A voice from my childhood

I had my first taste of live music at a stage show held in padang Majlis Daerah Kuala Pilah circa 1979 when I was 9. I was with my parents and brother and we were actually visiting my grandma in Batu Kikir over the weekend.
M Daud Kilau was the opening act for Sharifah Aini. Both top acts during the era. But poor M Daud Kilau - there was a diehard Sharifah Aini fan who kept asking him to stop singing. "Dahlah..nak Pah Aini lah pulak, " the feller whined loudly at the edge of the stage.
And when she finally came out for her turn to sing, I was mesmerised.. and i understood his impatience. So glamourous, a beautiful voice and a charming stage personality - I was starstruck.
Now she's no more. For that child long ago, she stood for that magical place and moment where legends come alive.
AlFatihah for Dato' Sharifah Aini.

  1. my first live concert was at the stadium with the superstar performer Allahyarham Sudirman Hj. Arshad and his guest artist was Zaiton Sameon. It was done at Stadium Larkin and I got two free tickets given by my father. The moment was just awesome.
